Tomi Peltola, M.Sc. (Tech.), will defend the dissertation "Sparse Bayesian Linear Models: Computational Advances and Applications in Epidemiology" on 12 January 2015 at 12 noon in lecture hall E, Otakaari 1, Espoo. In the dissertation, computational methods for modelling linear dependencies and for covariate selection are developed based on Bayesian inference. The methods are applied in genome-wide association analysis and predictive modelling of cardiovascular disease risk.
