Postdoctoral Researcher in Neuroimaging

We are looking for an exceptional, multitalented postdoctoral researcher for the ”High-resolution Magnetoencephalography” project funded by a grant from European Research Council to prof. Lauri Parkkonen. This position is open at the Department of Neuroscience and Biomedical Engineering, Aalto University School of Science, Finland. The aim of the project is to leverage the benefits of measuring neuromagnetic signals right on the scalp with highly sensitive optically-pumped magnetometers (OPM), establishing a new way of measuring the human brain in action! The project encompasses the entire chain from sensor technology to data analysis and to neuroscientific experimentation. Ideally, the postdoctoral researcher would be able to contribute to all of these stages of the research although the focus should be on OPM physics and technology and on system integration.

Doctoral Candidate positions in Neuroscience and Neurotechnology (also advanced MSc or BSc students may apply)

We now aim to develop advanced methods and hardware for multimodal imaging of human brain using MRI, EEG, and TMS. We are looking for highly motivated students to work in three ambitious projects with high potential impact:

  •     Development of shim coils for 3T MRI. Tasks include numerical simulations, hardware construction, neuroscience experiments, and clinical applications.
  •     Simultaneous EEG and fMRI. Tasks include experimental design, behavioral data and imaging data collection and analysis.
  •     Simultaneous TMS and fMRI. Tasks include hardware development, experimental data, data collection and analysis.

Requirements

  •     Major in electrical engineering, biomedical engineering, computer science, physics, or mathematics
  •     Preferred taken courses: linear algebra, signal processing, optimization, electromagnetism, electrical circuits, statistics
  •     Good english
